Stayed there in June 2007 for three days - incredibly peaceful and beautiful place in a bustling city. The buffet is amazing.
  • Yuquan Mountain, dckrl (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
it is rather an equivalent to Camp David -- a leadership retreat, the Jade Mountain site. Formerly the site of an ancient temple, the Central Office of the CCP built six villas there in 1950/51 as a weekend retreat for Mao Zedong and others, rather modest homes compared to the current huge mansions there. One of them is still in existence (adjacent to the large three-pronged building), probably Mao's. The bunker has been added later. The mansions are probably residences reserved for the members of the Standing Committee of the Politburo. Jade Mountain offers more spacious residences, compared to the cramped Zhongnanhai compound.
